Many of the inmates in Stephens County Jail are very talented. These are several of the poems that have been brought to our attention.
To Gail and Tammy - Jail Ministry
Depression takes hold quickly
Like a sudden summer rain
I sit alone in the darkness
Trying to
cope with the pain
The pain of heartache
Mine alone to bear
The darkness brings nightmares
That I am to afraid to share
I shed
tears for the one
That lost her childhood long ago
She will take her secret to the grave
For only a few will ever know
Some who
know the secret
Will never look at her the same
They will talk among each other
Saying she was the blame
Others will feel her pain
For
they lived it as well
But they also grew up
Being to afraid to tell
But if God guides you to those
That do not judge the same way
Then
you have been drawn to those
That will hold you hard and pray
Though those few selected by God
You can learn to release your pain
They
will hold you up in prayer
And show you there is good to gain
You believed in me
When all others turned away
You told me that good
would come
If I take the time to pray
Thank you for all your prayers
For all the time spent on your knees
Crying out for the Father
To
make my heart believe
Thank you for guiding me
Upon the path that is right
For praying that I be set free
From the torment of the
night
Speak life into all situations
You would always say
Don’t bring forth the negative
Count your blessings every day
You
never led me in the wrong direction
Or gave me bad advice
You spoke words of encouragement
And are a true blessing in my life
Deep
down I still thought
You were to good to be true
But now I try to accept
You are God’s way of letting
Me start anew
But this I can
say
If I never did before
I love you with all my heart
No way I could love more
I pray that you’ll forgive
If I brought any pain
your way
And I will get a chance to please you
If God allows me to see another day.
